With demographic growth in the main Brazilian cities, new areas are developing around these cities, such as the Aldeia dos Camarás neighborhood, in the metropolitan area of Recife, capital of the state of Pernambuco. The objective of this study was to analyze the real estate development in Aldeia dos Camarás and its impacts for sustainability in the environmental, social and economic dimensions. The research consists of a qualitative approach analysis, with semi-structured interviews. The analysis of the reports showed the existence of positive impacts on the social and economic dimensions and negative impacts on the environmental dimension. In addition, it was identified the importance of the State in supporting Civil Society Organizations in order to strengthen public policy actions in favor of social welfare and local sustainability.
