A Administração Bush e o futuro da política estratégica dos EUA: Da GWOT à «Longa Guerra»

A GWOT («Global War on Terror») evoluiu para a chamada «Longa Guerra». As lições aprendidas no Afeganistão, Iraque, e o próprio desenvolvimento da GWOT, conduziram Washington a uma abordagem mais multilateral e realista. Neste sentido, as zonas que melhor ilustram essa inflexão são a Ásia Central e a África, graças à criação de políticas, concepções e estruturas como a «Grande Ásia Central» e o AFRICOM. Isto não significa porém que tais modificações anulem a continuidade essencial de certos parâmetros da GWOT e a Grande Estratégia actualmente prosseguida pela Administração norte-americana.

Bush and the future of the United States strategic policies: from GWOT to the «Long War».

The “Global War on Terror” has now become the “Long War”. Lessons learned in Afghanistan and Iraq and the evolution of GWOT have led Washington back to multilateral realism. Central Asia and Africa are good examples of the new policies that have developed the Greater Central Asia concept and created AFRICOM. However those adjustments will not change the main priorities of GWOT and of the Grand Strategy that was defined by the present administration.
