Ciclo de vida organizacional: descrição de três estágios de desenvolvimento das pequenas empresas em quatro especificidades

RESUMO

Este artigo tem como objetivo apresentar construtos teóricos caracterizadores dos estágios de desenvolvimento organizacional da pequena empresa. A falta de consenso e de fundamentação sobre construtos teóricos para os estágios da pequena empresa dificulta o progresso da pesquisa empírica sobre o tema. Os construtos aqui apresentados foram avaliados por meio de instrumento quantitativo. Os construtos foram descritos e agrupados em quatro especificidades organizacionais da pequena empresa. O artigo apresenta resultados de uma pesquisa de campo com 71 pequenas empresas instaladas no Estado de São Paulo, Brasil. Na análise dos dados, utilizaram-se as técnicas estatísticas de Análise de Agrupamentos e de Análise de Correspondência. Os resultados e as discussões mostraram que a escala utilizada na coleta de dados atendeu satisfatoriamente o propósito de classificar as pequenas empresas em determinado estágio do seu ciclo de desenvolvimento.

Organizational life cycle: description of three stages of small businesses development in four specificities

ABSTRACT

This article aims to present theoretical models to describe the stages of organizational development of small business. The lack of consensus and validity about theoretical constructs for the stages of small business development hinders the progress of empirical research on the topic. The constructs presented here were evaluated with quantitative instruments. The constructs were described and then grouped in four of organizational specificities of small business. The paper presents results from a field survey of 71 small companies located in São Paulo, Brazil. Statistical techniques of cluster analysis and correspondence analysis were employed in data analysis. Results and discussions showed that the scale used in data collection serves the purpose of classifying small businesses in specific stages of their development cycle.
