ABSTRACT

This article deals with the consequences of cancer disease in the fields of sexuality (in the development of child and/or adolescent, and in regular life of adults) and (in)fertility.

The way patients live all through the cancer process (diagnosis, treatments, regular vigilance) influences the way they cope with its additional consequences.

Sexuality and fertility are very important areas for the individual’s quality of life that can be damaged in presence of cancer. In children and adolescent it has an impact on their psychosexual development. In adults it impacts their psychosexual functioning, either in a transitory or permanent way.

Cancer consequences in terms of fertility are similar for those that experienced cancer in the childhood, adolescence, and adult life (with children or not). As time goes by and pregnancy does not happen, anxiety increases given the frustration of being unable to have a child.

Key words: Sexuality, infertility, cancer.
