We watched in these almost 40 years of regional autonomy in education in Madeira Island, what can be considered a distinct vision, yet complementary in time, of the education and its role in Madeiran society, which corresponds to a political and legal vision. Where, perhaps, you can mark most notably that reality, this is, implement the national education policies but drawing in that implementation a strategy for longer tread its own path, it will be in the case of organizational model of schools, initiated in Madeira from the year 2000 in the place of the state organization model. It will say then, that this reality comes to another vision, which is echoed in terms of what is a clear perspective of Autonomy where schools inevitably end up to fit. In this sense, we would say so that the regional model of organization of schools of Madeira, should be seen as an educational autonomous regulation, despite the intervention of the Constitutional Court, that comes up crucial to understanding the limits of the educational autonomy in Madeira.
