The analysis of the land use and land cover change is a fundamental step of territorial planning. The present study presents the result of the application of a prospective modeling process of land occupation in the Santos microregion (Brazil) with the time horizon of the year 2022. The reference data used in the model refer to land use classification for 2010 and 2016, based on LANDSAT 5 (TM) and 8 (OLI) satellite images. The modeling step has been developed in IDRISI's Land Change Modeler. As results were obtained the mapping of spatial trend of change, which indicates the main changes of use and cover and where they are spatially concentrated, in addition to the mapping of land use and land cover for 2022.
