This article aims to present the work of Portuguese painter Gil Heitor Cortesão, contextualizing it not only in the broad field of contemporary art, but also in the specific field of contemporary painting. By reflecting on the work of this artist, we also intend to make a comment to the position (often controversial) occupied by painting in the art of our day.
