The purpose of this article is to reflect on the process of creation of Brazilian artist Amilton Damas as well as on the journey he went through during his education process. The data show how the work of Amilton established a direct line with life and with his daily experiences. Through unusual materials applied to woodcuts, the artist gives life to several characters which have been composing his work since the beginning of his education in art.
