Presentation of the concept of transformation of material in the work of the artists Damien Hirst and Joseph Beuys, taken as a guide for thinking about knowledge and the new paradigm of and science. Some of their works reflect healing possibilities related with alchemy. They point poiesis as a metaphorical procedure of investigation that affects man when he intervenes in its organic dimension.
