AIM: To analyze the international scientific production of the last five years on the consumption of crack and damage reduction strategies. METHOD: This is an integrative review of the literature, carried out in August 2017 in the LILACS and PUBMED databases. After the discussion of the data, the results evidenced in the analysis of the articles included in this review were presented. RESULTS: Nine papers were selected, seven of them quantitative and two qualitative studies, most published between 2014 and 2015, seven in Canada and two in the United States. All nine articles are related to so "controlled use or supervised use" (SSR) rooms and advocates that this strategy is a strong power for harm reduction. CONCLUSION: Harm reduction strategies in other countries are based on providing local users with a safe use, with a view to preventing disease and reducing risky behavior. This study will contribute to the knowledge of harm reduction strategies applied in the world context, serving as a basis to reflection for actions in the national territory.
