LOPES, Fernanda; OLIVEIRA, Karina; DAVID, Márcia  and  REBELO, Raquel. "Mensanus Project": mental health gains. Revista Portuguesa de Enfermagem de Saúde Mental [online]. 2014, n.11, pp.55-60. ISSN 1647-2160.

The mental health problems are the leading cause of disability and a major cause of morbidity in Portugal. Some studies even predict the worsening of these numbers, especially in vulnerable groups. Aware of this reality, Doctor of the world Portugal, designed and implemented Mensanus project, in Oporto, geared to intervene at the level of mental health in the proximity context, with the main objective of improving the quality of life of people with mental health problems, particularly in these vulnerable groups through social inclusion and protection of their rights and dignity. At the end of the project we propose to evaluate the intervention developed through analysis of the gains recorded in mental health clients who were accompanied by the technical team. This analysis, the results have all indicators (nine) with a success rate above 50%. Thus, we conclude that the strategies, methodologies and activities developed are perfectly adapted proved successful and consequently produce the desired effects since allowed a small technical team in number and hours spent achieve the proposed objectives.
