INTRODUCTION:Psychosocial rehabilitation is a process aimed at the conquest of opportunities for many users, promoting acceptance and social integration. In this context, workers should enhance their skills and introduce changes in this process in order to develop their training and achieve the desired goals. OBJECTIVE:This study aimed to identify the skills required of workers in psychosocial rehabilitation, from the point of view of the workers themselves. METHODOLOGY:The methodology is descriptive and qualitative. As an instrument of data collection was used semi-structured interviews to 10 employees of a psychosocial rehabilitation service (Espaço T - Porto), during the month of February 2013, in which the data were treated by analysis of content. RESULTS:The identified categories represent the skills acquired after analyzing data: competence in solving new problems and complex situations; communicative and relational competence; competence to work in a team; attitudinal skills; competence for active and "rehabilitative" learning skills, "to rescue the other" performance, autonomy, identity and dignity. Workers cautioned that skills must be acquired in a dynamic process of construction, that is, acquired and deepened through the constant search for new and diverse knowledge and skills. CONCLUSIONS:It was found that the experiences among users is the main source for acquiring the desired skills, because it is through practice that can identify problems, apply their knowledge and develop strategies according to each situation.
