The objective of this work is to introduce reflections on the environmental impacts of the aquaculture and analyze interventions in the estuary of Cananéia. The assessment of impacts was analyzed in existing aquaculture ventures and initiatives that did no continue in the estuarine lagoon area of the city of Cananéia, located on the southern coast of São Paulo State, approximately 270 km of the capital of this state. Part of the data to make the survey was obtained from field work to assess the crops, and through interviews conducted between the years 2009 and 2010, representatives of seven productive Oyster family communities, where each producer constituted a unit sample of environmental impact of technology. Other data were collected in the literature and on the basis of facts available. In addition, the cause-effect matrix was used, identifying the classification of the impacts generated by mariculture as High (S), Medium (M) and Low (B) depending on the analyses performed. The results were: Cultivation of mangrove oysters in trays - low impact; Cultivation of fish cobia - medium impact; Cultivation of exotic Oyster - low impact; Mussel cultivation of Costão - low impact; Pink shrimp cultivation - medium impact; Cultivation of exotic shrimp - medium impact Mariculture in Cananéia displays actual potential impacts classified as low to medium, from an environmental point of view, and far more positive than negative impacts on social economic of the municipality. However, there is a need to proceed with the planning process responsible conduct of mariculture, especially during the expansion process in the same municipality.
