Abstract

MARTINS-NOVAIS, Cláudia  and  REYNOLDS, Ana. Management of cervical cancer in pregnancy. Acta Obstet Ginecol Port [online]. 2018, vol.12, n.4, pp.286-296. ISSN 1646-5830.

Cervical cancer is one of the most common malignancies diagnosed during pregnancy. Although challenging, this diagnosis does not necessarily mean interruption of pregnancy. The objective is to review the management of invasive cervical cancer in pregnant women, by analyzing guidelines and systematic reviews published over the last couple of decades on staging, management, time and mode of delivery and prognosis. The definition of management strategies aims to obtain a prognosis similar to that of non-pregnant women, taking into account the protection of the mother, the fetus and the newborn. Long term impact on women and descendants remains unclear.

Keywords : Cervical cancer; Malignancy; Pregnancy.
