Abstract

SANCHEZ, Alfonso Vargas  and  LIGERO, Francisco Riquel. A theoretical approach to the institutional context of the environmental management policies of Andaluzian golf courses. Encontros Científicos [online]. 2009, n.5, pp.78-94. ISSN 1646-2408.

In recent years the number of golf courses in the Autonomous Community of Andalusia (Spain) has increased exponentially. This sport has become one of the products with greater importance in tourist offer of Andalusia, with significant economic impact in this territory. That is why there is a social debate about the environmental consequences of golf courses, in an attempt to reconcile economic development and respect for the natural environment. This debate has led to the generation of a highly institutionalized context that directly affects the environmental protection policies of such organizations. This paper aims to analyze the context and key practices derived from it.
