Sports activities participation of kids and teenagers has become an important issue in current society concerning developing and growing. Teenagers submitted to correction surgery of idiopathic scoliosis are no exception to such rule, however the decision regarding their return to sports practice is multifactorial and should be individualized, based on the patters and degree of each curve, the number of fused levels and the distal fused level, the type of sports activity, among others. Currently there is no scientific evidence about the ideal time for patients submitted to correction surgery of idiopathic scoliosis to return to sports practice, so the decision should be adapted for each case. This paper presents a literature review about this subject after research at database Pubmed/Medline and english language original papers selection, our center guidelines and underlying rationale and suggests general recommendations based on the current scientific evidence.
