FERREIRA, Elenira de Oliveira et al. Relation between the prevalence of dynamic valgism and ankle mobility among CrossFit practitioners. Motri. [online]. 2018, vol.14, n.1, pp.417-423. ISSN 1646-107X.

This study aimed to analyze the prevalence of dynamic valgus and ankle mobility in Crossfit practitioners in the city of Fortaleza / CE. This was a cross-sectional, field-based and descriptive study with a quantitative-qualitative data collection and analysis strategy. The present work was carried out in 3 crossfit boxes located in the city of Fortaleza-CE. The study was carried out from January to June 2017. The study population consisted of 43 practitioners, consisting of practitioners of both genders, aged between 20 and 35 years (27.6 ± 5.21 years) and time minimum of 6 months. The evaluation of the dynamic valgus was performed through the step down test. Mobility assessment was done through manual goniometry. Of the 43 practitioners in the sample, 62.79% (27 practitioners) were eligible to participate in the study, since they met all the inclusion criteria. Of the total sample, about 88.89% presented dynamic valgus and only 11.11% of the participants did not present dynamic valgus. It is observed that in the step down test 100% of the individuals of the feminine gender gave positive whereas in the masculine gender 80% obtained a positive result. For the ankle joint, the movements of plantar flexion and inversion presented values below normal, while the dorsiflexion and eversion movements presented values ??above normal. It is necessary that more studies involving a larger sample are carried out in order to verify possible new relations between dynamic valgism and causal factors.
