The objective of the present study was to describe the factors associated with the level of physical activity of high socioeconomic adolescents and their parents. One hundred and eighty six people (96 adolescents and 96 adults) of high socioeconomic level participated in this research. All subjects answered a questionnaire with open and closed questions about school structure and Physical Education classes. The level of physical activity was assessed through the IPAQ questionnaire, considering adolescents and adults who accumulated 300 and 150 minutes of weekly physical activity, respectively. The results indicate that 50.5% of the adolescent sample reached at least 300 min / without physical activity, with no difference between the sexes (boys 56.52%, girls, 44.7%). In addition, 67% of active girls did not like to play sports with their parents and only 5% did not like to do with the mother, although 61% with their parents. Significant differences were found in the use of computer and video game in the group of active parents and children, as well as in the consumption of fast food, carry out meal out of home, eat vegetables, drink industrialized juice and drink coffee. In summary, was found a direct association between the practice of organized physical activities of the children and the level of physical activities of the parents, and for the inactive, we perceive a similar eating habits between parents and children.
