LOPES, Pedro et al. Osteomyoarticular injuries among crossfit practicants. Motri. [online]. 2018, vol.14, n.1, pp.266-270. ISSN 1646-107X.

The increased demand for modern and competitive exercise has simultaneously increased the risk of injury, causing concerns in all spheres of income. Crossfit® is an exercise based on a multidimensional view of physical fitness, so says the American College of Sports Medicine, but it still needs a broad identification with regard to injury provoking in its practitioners. The purpose of this study is to identify the possible injuries generated in Crossfit® practitioners. This is a cross-sectional, descriptive field study with a quantitative analysis strategy of the presented results. Data were collected through a semi structured questionnaire. 100 questionnaires were answered, 3 participants were excluded because they did not meet the criteria, of which 61.9% were men and 38% women, with a mean age of 32 years. 30.2% of respondents said they had already injured themselves in Crossfit® practice. Regarding the anatomical location of the lesion, 42% reported the lumbar spine, 35% wrist, 28% shoulder and 25% knee. The predominance among injuries occurred in the unstable joints of the human body with wrist, shoulder and lumbar spine and may be related to high amount of weight and repetitions.
