The objective was to verify the nutritional status of children attending public and private institutions based on anthropometric measures. An evaluation of the Nutritional Status of children from 02 to 04 years old, from the public and private schools was carried out. The anthropometric status was evaluated from BMI (BMI / Age), P / I (weight for age), E / I (height for age), and P / E (weight for height). Data were collected according to the anthropometric measures and later processed in WHO tables. According to the P / I parameter, 11.11% (n = 3) of the day care center children were weight-for-age. Analyzing the same parameter, it was possible to observe that 6.5% (n = 2) of the children in the private day care center presented weight for age. Regarding the E / I index, 11.11% (n = 3) of the children in the public network was diagnosed with short stature, while those in the private network showed 100% adequacy in this parameter. The IMC / I indicator presented a prevalence of 44.44% (n = 12) and 16.1 (n = 5) of obesity in children in the public and private day care centers, respectively. According to the P / E, 55.6% (n = 15) of the children in the public network presented obesity, and 16.1% (n = 5) of the private day care center presented the same diagnosis. According to the results, it was concluded that there is an increase in overweight in the children of the public network when compared to those of the private network.
