This paper aims to investigate the relationships between socio-environmental and economic-financial variables. The economic-financial performance was compared for enterprises which shares are composed of different indices of the stock exchange, one of them composed of shares of enterprises with social practices and of environmental preservation (Sustainability Index - ISE) and the other one composed of enterprises which do not comprise with the selection criteria of social and environmental practices (IBRX). The t test of Student showed that enterprises of the ISE group aggregated more economic value in relation to the total asset than those of the IBRX group (P<0.05). The relationships between investments on environment, social responsability, return on equity, market value and debt were analised using a linear regression model with investments on environment and social responsability as dependent variables. The relationships were not statistically significant (P>0,05).
