MENDES, Carmen Amado  e  TIAN, Xintong. The political and economic motivations behind China's presence in Angola. Relações Internacionais [online]. 2020, n.65, pp.57-70. ISSN 1645-9199.  https://doi.org/10.23906/ri2020.65a05.

This paper aims to investigate the Sino-Angolan relations between the establishment of the People's Republic of China in 1949 and the end of José Eduardo dos Santos's presidential mandate in Angola in 2017. The analysis of the links between these two countries allows to highlight the two main objectives underlying Chinese operations in Angola. From a political point of view, it is possible to see that the People's Republic of China has sought to promote a positive image among the international community through the implementation of Development Cooperation projects in several developing countries, including Angola. From an economic stance, it is possible to conclude that the Chinese government seeks to increase the market share of Chinese companies in the Angolan market, as well as guarantee their access to Angolan natural resources, most notably oil.
