This article aims to analyze specifically the role of the Assembleia da República’s Plenary to what concerns European matters, by systematizing the plenary debates particularly addressing Europe/European Union, which took place in Parliament since the IV Legislature (1985-1987) until the decididas a nível europeu. XI Legislature (2009-2011), and assess what was the intensity and the evolution of plenary sessions devoted to this subject. This article therefore seeks to provide a qualitative interpretation of the quantitative results obtained, covering the latest developments introduced by the entry into force of the Lisbon Treaty and of the Law no. 21/2012 of May 17, which amends Law no. 43/2006 of August 25, on monitoring, assessment and pronouncement by the Assembleia da República within the scope of the process of constructing the European Union
