This article aims to analyze the role of Mário Soares, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the first interim government, at the beginning of the process of decolonization. Their action originate an impact on the acceleration of that process, anticipated and made clear the tension between president Spínola and the mfa, and contributed to transform the Guinean case in a model to other territories.
