The ceremonial’s presentation of new mission chiefs’ credentials shows how this exercise of juridical “insignificance” may enclose potential for power projection crucial to adequately understand the place and sense of the presidential role in the Portuguese political system. It is in the international relations domain that this projection is reflected with more intensity. This article examines the President of Republic role in light of the Portuguese Constitution, namely in the foreign policy domain.
