Abstract

VERGARA, Sylvia  and  SILVA, Heliana. Artisan organisations: a system forgotten in the theory of the organizations. Rev. Portuguesa e Brasileira de Gestão [online]. 2007, vol.6, n.3, pp.32-38. ISSN 1645-4464.

This essay deals with the organizations of artisan production. In relation to them we can raise two questions: why they have not been considered in the theory of the organizations? And why do they deserve to be studied? To answer these questions, the article develops a reflection based in arguments. It considers that such organizations had not been treated in the field of the theory of the organizations because it has, predominantly, focused in the enterprise and industrial fields. However, organizations of artisan production had survived to the process of industrialization and at the present time they place themselves with great potential for the renewal of market values and for coupling the productive system. Artisan organizations are an alternative for the generation of employment and work, with the revaluation of local knowledge and of the material and immaterial assets that forms the culture and the territorial identity.

Keywords : Artisan Production; Market Values; Territorial Identity; Productive System.
