The paper aims to assess how Mia Couto, author of African literatures in Portuguese, can be addressed in Law no. 10.639/2003, i.e., the study of history of Africa and Africans, the struggle of black people in Brazil, the Brazilian black culture and the realization of the importance of black people in the formation of national society, rescuing the contribution of black people in the social, economic and policy relevant to the history of Brazil. In this article we proceeded to literary analysis of miacoutian written in line with the recommendations of the Law no. 10.639/2003, showing its important literary and educational contribution to the applicability of that law.
