Abstract

TEIXEIRA, Ricardino Jacinto Dumas. State and civil society in Cape Verde and Guinea-Bissau: Djuntamon for new relationships. Cadernos de Estudos Africanos [online]. 2016, n.31, pp.95-114. ISSN 1645-3794.

This text analyzes the relationship between the civil society and the state in the democratization process of Cape Verde and Guinea-Bissau. The analytic main line supporting the analysis will take into account the demands, articulations, conflicts, compositions, negotiations and institutionalization of vulnerable groups to prepare a framework repertoire of the collective actions. We defend the argument that a new democratic culture has been developing in Cape Verde and Guinea-Bissau, with its own characteristics. The corpus is composed of interviews, statements and written documents about the ongoing democratization process.

Keywords : civil society; state; democratization; Cape Verde; Guinea-Bissau.
