This study is an integrative review with the aim of evidencing the social network relationship and social support configured around the patient submitted to Bariatric Surgery, regarding the loss, maintenance and regain weight and / or recurrence of obesity , in the postoperative period. To this end, the search for articles in English, Portuguese and Spanish was carried out in the databases Pubmed, Virtual Health Library and Web of Science, from 2007 to 2017. Through the combination of keywords, 12 articles were identified that explain the social network and its relationship with the results with postoperative results of bariatric surgery. The results were analyzed with the aid of the Atlas .Ti 7.5.7, software focused on qualitative data analysis. Results shows (a) the ambivalence of family role when facing challenging situations, sometimes family members offer a very effective support, sometimes they have difficulties in aiding the patient post-surgical care; (b) that health care professionals may take over a substitutive role in offering support through a bond of trust and professional care, which promotes adherence to treatment and (c) the support promoted by institutional groups and through social network have showed empathetic exchanges between patients is an instrument in postoperative treatment. The collected data evinced the potentialities of different dimensions of the significant social network in the treatment of obesity.
