SANTOS, Marcos Francisco dos; CAVALCANTI, Jaqueline  y  PIMENTEL, Carlos. Development and validation of the empathy scale for people with madness. Psic., Saúde & Doenças [online]. 2019, vol.20, n.2, pp.463-475. ISSN 1645-0086.  https://doi.org/10.15309/19psd200215.

This study aimed to elaborate a measure about empathy towards people with insanity, as well as knowing their psychometric parameters. Let's see that the number of people in the world suffering from some mental disorder is about 700 million, according to WHO, living with people with some kind of madness has become more common. To that end, a sample of 400 university students was interviewed, who answered EEFPL as well as a sociodemographic questionnaire. The results pointed to a one-dimensional measure different from the one indicated in the literature (tri-factorial) for a 13-item scale, valid and reliable, capable of evaluating empathy in this group, with internal consistency and reliability index of 0.75. It was also verified that the EEFPL presented positive relation with pro-social behavior (r=0.25, p<0.001), using the Classical Theory of Tests-TCT to base the work. it is necessary to broaden the sample and diversify it to corroborate with the applicability of this tool. Therefore, it is hoped that this measure may contribute to the development of prevention and health promotion programs.
