The rupture of a loving relationship is a common experience in university students; however, for some of these young individuals this event can create very stressful and distressing emotions, placing high demands on emotional competencies. This study involved 100 university students aged 18-36 years old and who have experienced at least one loss of a loving relationship. It was used a quantitative methodology by applying four instruments already used in other researches. The results allowed us to detect the existence of symptoms of Prolonged Grief, Traumatic and Embitterment in those young individuals, after the loss of a loving relationship, as well as the relevance of Emotion Regulation Difficulties in predicting symptoms of Prolonged Grief, Traumatic and Embitterment. Thus, the results were according to our prediction, showing verifying that high school students are a population with high risk of showing symptoms of Prolonged Grief, Traumatic and Embitterment.
