Resumen

PLUTARCO, Lia Wagner et al. The influence of partner's trust in deciding to use condoms. Psic., Saúde & Doenças [online]. 2019, vol.20, n.1, pp.220-233. ISSN 1645-0086.  https://doi.org/10.15309/19psd200118.

Condom use is considered one of the main ways of evaluating risky sexual behavior. However, despite acknowledging its importance, studies indicate inconsistencies in its use, being the trust on the partner a variable that has relevant predictive power in this scenario. This study aims to evaluate risky sexual behavior by the use of a scale constructed to measure condom use in function of trust on partner (EUC). For that purpose, the research counted with a non-probabilistic sample of 346 people whom answered the scale and sociodemographic questions. The psychometric parameters from the scale were evaluated by a Principal Component analysis that showed the one factor solution to be more adequate, explaining 34,77% of total variance and Cronbach's Alpha of 0,81. The results indicate that trust on partner has, in fact, great predictive power. Lastly, means were compared to investigate if there were differences in the scores of EUC regarding the type of relationship and the gender of participants. No significate differences were found. As a conclusion, EUC can assist research regarding risky sexual behavior and start discussions of how trust on partner influences the inconsistent use of condoms and other sexually related risk behaviors.
