Abstract

Game addition presents new challenges nowadays. The digital facilitated the access to games and introduced new and appealing possibilities such as video games and online games. Advances in scientific research have changed the understanding of the problem now considered a behavioral addition or addition without substance. A research in the biomedical literature available, systematic reviews published on the subject in the last ten years, lead to conclude that the phenomenon is expanding but remains poorly studied and poorly quantified. The lack of objective criteria in problem definition further difficult research. Neurological and biochemical issues, the comorbidities and age condition the problem. An effective treatment implies the recognition of the intricate networks established between player(s), platform(s) and the specificities of the game(s).
