Abstract

TARGINO, Raquel  and  HAYASIDA, Nazaré. Risk and protection in drug’s use: a literature review. Psic., Saúde & Doenças [online]. 2018, vol.19, n.3, pp.724-742. ISSN 1645-0086.  https://doi.org/10.15309/18psd190320.

Knowing which risk and protective factors present in the drug use phenomenon is critical to invest in interventions that are more effective. This study is a review of scientific literature about the risk and protection factors in drug use with subjects from 10 years of age, who are patients or not of any health service for treatment of chemical dependency. It was found 63 articles in Redalyc, Scielo, Lilacs, Pepsic and CAPES journals databases, who met the inclusion criteria. The results indicated that factors such as family, friends, religion, school, community, information on drugs and socio-economic issues could be both risk and protection, depending on the relations to be established between the subject and such factors. Already factors like work, income and media appear to be strongly related to the risks of drug use. However, it is necessary to accomplish further research to understand better the dynamics of risk and protective.

Keywords : drugs; risk factors; protective factors; associated factors.
