Resumen

AVILA, Camila de Matos et al. Screening for cardiopathy: maternal-fetal attachment and coping in pregnant women. Psic., Saúde & Doenças [online]. 2018, vol.19, n.2, pp.255-264. ISSN 1645-0086.  https://doi.org/10.15309/18psd190208.

Congenital heart disease can be diagnosed by fetal echocardiography, and that is why currently screening is suggested for every pregnant woman from the 18th week of pregnancy onwards. The development of maternal-fetal attachment is essential, since this is the base of the mother-child relationship. It is natural that coping strategies be used in different ways and with different intensities in life cycle situations and stages including pregnancy. The purpose of this study was to identify whether there is an association between the degree of maternal-fetal attachment and the coping strategies most frequently used by pregnant women screened for fetal cardiopathy. The design used was a cross-sectional study for which 280 pregnant women were interviewed, with a mean age of 27 years (SD=7.2) and gestational age of 27 weeks (SD=5.1). The instruments used to collect data consisted of: Semistructured interview that looked at sociodemographic data, sociocultural and psychological aspects of the pregnant woman Maternal-Fetal Attachment Scale (MFS) and the Scale on Ways of Coping with Problems (WCP). The data collected were stored in program Microsft Excel for statistical analysis by Program PSW 18.0. There was no significant association between the levels of attachment and coping strategies.
