Resumen

SOUZA, Yris  y  FARO, André. Predilection, expectation and birth experience: what do they think pregnant and primiparae?. Psic., Saúde & Doenças [online]. 2018, vol.19, n.2, pp.243-254. ISSN 1645-0086.  https://doi.org/10.15309/18psd190207.

Nowadays, issues related to childbirth had held significant importance in health care discussions, particularly regarding to the recommended mode of delivery as more appropriate or desired. Facing such context, this study investigates the perception of pregnant and puerperal women about the mode of delivery (normal or cesarean). Therefore, 25 interviews were carried out (with ten mothers in the first nine months of pregnancy and fifteen mothers in the first 12 months after birth), in order to understand the preferred mode of delivery, factors that influenced their preference, expectations, and among those who have had their child, the birth experience. From the results, four classes were obtained by technique of Hierarchical Descending Classification: Class 1 - aspects that discourage normal delivery; Class 2 - aspects that motivate normal delivery; Class 3 - important factors for the choice of delivery type; Class 4 - Experiences related to childbirth. It was concluded that there is no consensus on the preference of the mode of delivery among the mothers; however, the factors that influenced the choice were similar regardless of the preferred mode of delivery: pain, fear, influences of others and experiences (personal or from other people).

Palabras clave : primiparae; normal delivery; cesarean delivery; pregnancy.
