Abstract

Neurofeedback, non-invasive treatment technique for neurological and psychiatric disorders, has been used as an alternative to drug treatment. This study has as an objective to analyze national and international literature on this technique efficacy in the anxiety and anxiety disorder treatment. A literature review of articles published between 2003 and 2014 of the main national and international databases was done. Fourteen articles systematized into three categories were found: used instruments, correlated brain areas and neurofeedback session average. Neurofeedback use positive evaluation and its efficacy were evidenced. It highlights the need for further studies that can reassure neurological training efficacy in the anxiety disorder and pathological anxiety treatment, bearing in mind the scarce publication aimed at this theme, mainly in the national context.
