The objective of this study is to discuss the issue of stigma of people with mental disorders in their relationship with current mental health policy in Brazil with a view to their social inclusion. Theoretical Article based on normative matrix of the Mental Health National Policy published by December 2013 and in studies published between 1986-2013, highlighting the main theoretical and political positions on the issue of social inclusion of people with mental disorders, stigma of mental illness and intervention models in mental health, in the context of the psychiatric care reform in Brazil. The change in the mental health care model in Brazil that, in turn, questions the biomedical paradigm as a form of therapeutic intervention - attends the psychiatric care reform project for the purpose, among others, social reintegration of the patient in their midst. Projects that seek social inclusion of mentally ill, have heterogeneous operating rationales and effects are closely conditioned cultural practices of places where they run. In attention to the mentally ill is essential to support the family and the community. On the one hand, the family-support therapies to understanding the phenomenon of illness, demystifying the disease and its forms of treatment and on the other, stimulation mechanisms of social support networks, as forms of support in the perspective of a new look at the mental health care.
