Obesity is a global public health problem, which has been discussed in scientific circles, for new prevention and combat strategies. Considering bariatric surgery as an alternative to weight reduction, the present study aimed to understand the psychological evaluation processes prior to this intervention, with attention to the feeding behavior functional analysis. The survey was structured as a bibliographic research on the field of behavioral analysis, on psychological assessment and bariatric surgery. The results pointed out that such intervention can lead to a significant change in the behavioral repertoire of the subject, considering the various aspects of your life. Besides, it was identified a disagreement about the protocol establishment to investigate and sistematize the data referring to the subject, your behavioral repertoire and the expectation about the surgery for an appropriate psychological evaluation.
