Introduction: The renal chronic disease consists in progressive and, usually, irreversible lost on the renal function aspects, bringing physical, psychological, social and economic consequences. Children with that disease suffer because of the limitations and changes as an outcome of the illness process. The consequent modifications in life becomes, eventually, stress and it will change the way of realizing their own quality of life. Goals: This research aimed to measure the stress and quality of life on hospitalized children diagnosed with renal chronic diseases. Method: Were included in this study children between 6 and 12 years old hospitalized at the Children's Health Attention Unity at the Academic Hospital Onofre Lopes in Natal - RN. The instruments used were the Scale of Children Stress from Lipp and Lucarelli, the Questionnaire to avaliate the Quality of Life in Children and Adolescents from Manificat and Dazord validated by Assumpção Jr, and also the Sociodemographic Questionnaire. Results: Results has shown that children with renal chronic disease got stressed specially in the alert and exhaustion phases, also they evaluate their own quality of life as poor, being the autonomic dimension the most damaged. Conclusion: The results matches with the literature and allows us to understand better the psychological aspects that goes through with the disease, hospitalization and treatment for children with renal chronic diagnostic.
