Abstract
PATRAO, Ana Luísa; ALVES, Vicente Paulo and NEIVA, Tiago. Psychometric properties of who vaw in brazilian elderly. Psic., Saúde & Doenças [online]. 2016, vol.17, n.2, pp.150-161. ISSN 1645-0086. https://doi.org/10.15309/16psd1704.
This paper analyzes the psychometric properties of the World Health OrganizationViolence Against Women (WHO VAW) questionnaire study, in a Brazilian gerontological sample. Participated in this study 144 elderly (M age=69.34; SD=6.61), patients of Basic Health Unit of Granja do Torto (Brasília). The exploratory principal components factor analysis yielded three factors: emotional violence, physical violence, and sexual violence. The WHO VAW scores presented high internal consistency in this sample (Cronbach Alpha 0.91 for total scale, 0.86 for emotional violence, 0.90 for physical violence and 0.86 for sexual violence). In terms of convergent validity, WHO VAW presented significant correlations with other instruments that evaluate associated psychosocial variables, such as depression (r= 0.20; p< 0.005) and general self-efficacy (r= -0.23; p< 0.001). So, the WHO VAW is an important instrument in terms of research and intervention within the framework of psychological assessment and the promotion of Brazilian elderly.
