This research aimed to identify factors that influence eating behaviours of adolescents. In study 1 we proceeded to construction of the questionnaire of adolescents food choices and identification of factors using exploratory factor analysis, by applying the questionnaire to a sample of 247 teenagers (12-19 years). In study 2 we proceeded to factorial validation of the questionnaire and assessment of replicability of the factors using confirmatory factor analysis, by applying the questionnaire to a new sample of adolescents (N = 258). Results identified a number of factors, in particular, body weight control/satisfaction, ethical concerns, sensory qualities, convenience and humor. Differences were found according to gender and age. We discuss potential contributions of this research for future development of theory and health promotion interventions for adolescents. Finally, we discuss limitations and present suggestions for future research.
