Resumen

NEVES, Ana  y  DUARTE, Cidália. Depressive symptoms, solving conflicts and marital satisfaction in individuals in a relationship. Psic., Saúde & Doenças [online]. 2015, vol.16, n.3, pp.331-344. ISSN 1645-0086.

Intimate relationships are the most important social relationship for adults and several studies have documented that certain aspects inherent in the marital relationship articulate with depressive symptoms so it is important to deepen this association so that we can intervene to improve the welfare of the individual and marital individuals. The main objective of this study was to understand how depressive symptoms, solving conflicts strategies and marital satisfaction are related in individuals who were in a marital relationship. In this investigation participated 130 married and cohabiting individuals and were used as instruments the CES-D (Gonçalves & Fagulha, 2004) and CRBQ (Reese-Weber & Bartle-Haring, 1998 adapted by Neves & Duarte, 2013). The results indicate a significant relationship between marital satisfaction, depressive symptoms and solving conflicts strategies, particularly the strategy attack/avoidance and also emphasize the mediation role of strategy attack/avoidance in the relationship between marital satisfaction and depressive symptoms in women. These results may be important for clinical practice with couples, as they call attention to the implications of the existence of depressive symptoms may have in the marital relationship.

Palabras clave : Marital relationships; depressive symptoms; solving conflicts strategies; marital satisfaction.
