TOME, G.; CAMACHO, I.; MATOS, M.G.  y  SIMOES, C.. Influence of family and friends in wellbeing and risk behavior: Explanatory model. Psic., Saúde & Doenças [online]. 2015, vol.16, n.1, pp.23-34. ISSN 1645-0086.  https://doi.org/10.15309/15psd160104.

The aim of this study was to analyze the influence of the relationship of adolescents with parents and friends and the involvement in risk behaviors and health. The study sample consists of youth who participated in the study HBSC-Health Behaviour in School - aged Children in 2010 in Portugal. The study involved the participation of 3,494 young people from the 8th and 10thgrade with an average age of 14.94, in which 46.4% are boys and 53.6% girls. The results showed that good communication with parents has a greater protective effect associated with life satisfaction and adolescent health. Moreover, good communication with friends arises in connection with a perception of lower life satisfaction and increased psychological symptoms. Our results reinforce the importance of communication and positive relationships with parents. Despite friends emerge as a risk factor, these should not be ignored but observed more carefully in order to help teenagers develop strategies for greater resistance to peer pressure and peer group, preventing a negative effect on their health and well-being.

Palabras clave : family; peer group; symptoms health; life satisfaction; risk behaviors.
