FERREIRA, Sónia; MARTINS, Maria João; MONTEIRO, Sara  e  PEREIRA, Anabela. Children’s somatization inventory (isc-24). Psic., Saúde & Doenças [online]. 2014, vol.15, n.3, pp.751-767. ISSN 1645-0086.  https://doi.org/10.15309/14psd150315.

Somatization is “the tendency to try and communicate somatic discomfort and symptoms that can’t be explained by pathological causes and assigned to physical diseases” (Lipowski, 1988, p. 1359). The literature has noted an association between somatic complaints and the increase of the stress levels. Although several studies and investigations have been made, since early, about somatization and the stress effects at the arising of diseases, this has focused, essentially, in adult population. Indeed, research in children and adolescents is still scarce and there are a lacking evaluation tools a adapted to the Portuguese population. The Children’s Somatization Inventory (CSI-24), is intended to assess the presence and the degree of intensity of somatization, between 8 and 18 years old. The present study aims to analyze the psychometric characteristics of the Children’s Somatization Inventory (ISC-24), in order to adapt to the Portuguese population a valid measure of somatization.
