BALOLA, Michele. Locus of control and adherence to treatment in infantile rheumatic diseases. Psic., Saúde & Doenças [online]. 2012, vol.13, n.2, pp.433-446. ISSN 1645-0086.
This study aims to assess the Locus of Control exercised by parents and children with diagnosis of rheumatic disease. The aim is to assess whether the controllability exercised in relation to health and disease is based on an internal or external control. The study also aims to examine the Adherence to treatment, including the barriers to adherence and intensity of such barriers. The evaluation protocol was applied to 33 participants aged between 11 and 17 years and their parents. The results show that parents have a field of external control and children an area of internal control. With regard to adherence, the barriers most strongly relate to the disease itself and internal processes of the patient.
