Abstract
WIESE, Iria Raquel Borges and SALDANHA, Ana Alayde Werba. Vulnerability of adolescents to std/aids: still a question of gender?. Psic., Saúde & Doenças [online]. 2011, vol.12, n.1, pp.105-118. ISSN 1645-0086.
This study aimed at verifying the youngers beliefs about the masculine and feminine sexualities and inferring possible association between gender and vulnerability to STD/AIDS. Then, it was applied a structured questionnaire in 1131 students from public schools from João Pessoa City, being 473 (42%) from masculine sex and 658 (58%) from feminine sex, with ages between 12 and 20 years. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (frequencies) and bivariate statistics (Student's t-test). The results highlighted the prevalence of sexist beliefs, based on biological determinism that justifies the supremacy of masculinity, the romantic love ideal as a guiding of womens subjectivity - to be of the other rather than to be of themselves - and the naturalization of some speeches and practices concerning the genders roles in the experience of sexuality; naturalization implicated in the weakening of preventive and health promotion.
