Abstract

LIMA, Lígia; LEMOS, Marina Serra de  and  GUERRA, Marina Prista. Adaptation of the School-Age Temperament Inventory - SATI to a portuguese population. Psic., Saúde & Doenças [online]. 2010, vol.11, n.1, pp.55-70. ISSN 1645-0086.

The article describes the adaptation and validation of the School-Age Temperament Inventory (McClowry, 1991) in a sample of Portuguese children aged 8 to 12. The authors also aimed to describe the children’s temperament and to examine age and gender differences. The Portuguese version of SATI showed good psychometric properties and similar structure matching the dimensions proposed by the author of the original scale. Results also revealed gender differences suggesting higher levels of activity in boys than girls. Moreover the instrument allows the identification of children’s temperament profiles which can help in designing targeted clinical and educational interventions.

Keywords : Adaptation; Children; Temperament’s assessment.
