Abstract

The anxiety, stress and depression scale was developed in a context of a tripartite model and its objective was to improve the differentiation between depression and anxiety. It was developed for adults and based on theoretical concepts associated with each of the three dimension's characteristics. In an attempt to verify its performance involving an adolescent population, it was applied to 361 pre-adolescents and adolescents who were elementary and high school students an were aged between 8 and 15 years old. This was a convenience sample, with 208 girls and 153 boys. The results obtained suggest that although this scale might be of importance to this population, further studies are needed to evaluate the scale's sensitivit
