Abstract

Endometriosis is a gynecological disease of progressive nature, featured by the presence of endometrial focus outside the uterine cavity. This condition can cause very damaging cyclic or critic symptoms, its consequences can be observed in multiple ways of life of the women who suffer from it. This article reveals qualitative results of a research that has as a goal to know how women with the disease live. Four women with this diagnosis were interviewed, the article contains the transcribed interviews, and, through the qualitative textual analysis methodology, some categories which describe the importance of the influence of the endometriosis over this women everyday life, such as their consequences in affective and professional life, family and relation with the medical class. Besides these results, the research tried to identify everything that these women understand as the meaning of endometriosis in their lives.
